Looking for Red Dot Sight recommendations? I own a few, and here are the features I wanted and the products that had them.
Below are items that I have purchased and currently own. I will have affiliate links next to the products, but I have independently evaluated these tools, and highly recommend them. The below affiliate links will take you to a place I order almost all my defensive tools from: Opticsplanet. I've been using them since 2009! Remember to save 5% site wide by using the code SAS5
Red Dot for Rifle
This sight is a really solid build, and comes in different colors. I selected the tan for my main rifle, and I really love the features. Here's some of my favorite features:
Solar Power - This sight has a Solar Power panel on top to help provide power when outdoors.
Easy Battery Change
2 MOA Dot, and 65 MOA Reticle - This sight has the dot and reticle, which is a helpful feature if you have to engage targets at different distances compared to your zero.
Motion Activation - This sight comes on once it detects motion activation, but otherwise stays off. My rifle spends a lot of time in the safe compared to my carry gun, so this feature is awesome to have. If I have to grab the rifle quickly, that sight is always on the moment it moves. However, it turns itself off too! The current battery has been in the sight for a couple years now!

Red Dot for Pistol
When I wanted to get into the Red Dot game, I really struggled with what sight to select initially. I contemplated going with a Holosun, but I also considered Trijicon as well. However, ultimately I decided on the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro. Here are the features that caused me to select it over the others:
Easy Battery Changes - The battery compartment is on top, and batteries are easy to change without special tools.
Large sight window- Some sights have really small windows, and the smaller the window, the more at risk of not finding the dot in a pinch.
Motion-Activation - This sight has motion activation, which means the sight turns on the moment there is movement. I love this feature in a sight, and I practically require it now for any electronic sight I buy.
Solid Brand/Construction - I knew finding a footprint for my firearm would be easy with this sight, and Leupold is an excellent company. The construction is top notch!
2.5 MOA Sight - I wanted a sight with a balance of accuracy and findability. for me the 6 MOA was too large, and 2.5 is a nice balance that keeps the red dot a manageable size for accuracy.
I hope you found this post helpful. These sights are ones that I have been using for years now, and I love the features and how they work for me. Remember to always do you research on what you're looking to get, and make sure it has features that will serve you well.
